Backpacking the Wind Rivers

Each year since we've been married Kurt and I have tried to go on a backpacking trip. Ever since our first trip to Titcomb Basin in the Wind Rivers, WY, I have looked forward to the peace, quiet and alone time I get to spend with Kurt on these trips. Oh sure a week of eating nuts and oatmeal can get to ya but nothing beats the beauties we've seen.

Here's a video Kurt put together of this year's trip to the Cirque of the Towers and East Temple Peak.

Day 1 - Drive to Big Sandy Trailhead.  Backpack to Big Sandy Lake (6 miles)
Day 2 - Day hike to the Cirque of the Towers.  Return to camp at Big Sandy Lake (6 miles)
Day 3 - Backpack to Clear Lake (1.5 miles)
Day 4 - Backpack past Deep Lake to Temple Lake (3 miles)
Day 5 - Ascend East Temple Peak.  Backpack to Big Sandy Lake (9 miles)
Day 6 - Backpack to Big Sandy Trailhead (6 miles).  Drive home

Here are a few more of my favorite pictures from our trip
We saw and heard lots of Marmots

Tuna and crackers never tasted so good

Water fall in the center of the Cirque of the Towers

Camp at Clear Lake

Kurt wins the smallest catch award

My ankle bone got so tender from my new boots I had to stuff socks in there to cushion it.

Heading to Deep Lake

Loved all the Cairns we got to follow

Don't expect any help from Gooch! He was so wiped out

At Temple Lake

Summitted East Temple Peak

Next year we're off to the Grand Canyon!
